Malecon in La Paz, Baja California Sur

Directions & Map

For one person arriving at La Paz International Airport, it is less expensive to take a group taxi-van into town: about $13.00. For two or more people arriving together, a private taxi may be more economical. Taxi fares from the airport to downtown La Paz are about twice the cost of fares from downtown to the airport. Make sure you give the driver the street address and the cross streets (Mutualismo and Madero) as the street numbering system is occasionally confusing.

La Paz Map

From the South (Cabo San Lucas, etc.):

You enter the city on Blvd. Forjadores (4-6 lane, divided), which has lots of stop lights.

Forjadores becomes Isabela la Catolica and becomes a one-way 3-lane thoroughfare. Get into the left lane. Continue through three more stop lights. At the third stop light (with the large CCC grocery store on your left) turn left onto Calle Nicolas Bravo (one way, toward the bay).

Follow Calle Nicolas Bravo toward the bay about 13 blocks, until you are between Madero and Mutualismo. Casa Tuscany will be on your right.

From the North (La Paz Airport, etc.):

The winding, two-lane Highway 1 becomes 4-6 lanes (at times) as it nears La Paz, then 2 lanes again as you enter the central city area. You will pass directly through about 6 stop light intersections (some quite small) before you see the beach/waterfront/malecon on your left.

A few blocks further, on the right, is Hotel Los Arcos. At the end of this hotel, turn right onto Rosales, go up two blocks, turn left onto Revolucion, go one block, and then turn left again onto Calle Nicolas Bravo (one-way, heading back toward the bay).

Casa Tuscany is on your right in that block on Bravo; you'll see the bay directly in front of you. Park anywhere on the street in white or unpainted spaces.

  Helpful Driving Suggestions

When you see a car coming in your direction with emergency lights flashing, this means there is a problem in the road ahead of you; take caution for some time.

If another vehicle ahead of you signals his left-turn signal, this generally means it is safe for you to pass; however, be careful if the vehicle is slowing down and there appears to be a place to turn left off the highway!

Cows and other livestock can crowd near (or on) the road at times, but horses can be even more threatening! Use a lot of caution when passing a horse that is grazing alongside the highway; they will often bolt and run in front of you without apparent cause.

If possible, avoid driving at night, when the heat radiating from the asphalt attracts animals.

Have a safe and happy trip, drive with care, arrive before dark, and...

¡Bienvenidos a Casa Tuscany!
